About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
Broadside Creatives is a not-for-profit arts organisation and creative workspace in Sunderland, bringing together affordable workspaces, community programming and professional support. Its workspace offer includes private, lockable studios, workshops and office spaces for artists, sole traders, community organisations, consultants and small teams. Rental spaces include utilities, Wi-Fi and service fees, with access available around the clock for renters. The organisation also provides business mentoring for community organisations, including regular one-to-one support and help identifying and applying for funding. Beyond workspace provision, Broadside Creatives delivers arts engagement, creative facilitation, artist mentoring and culturally enriching workshops. Its activities range from community sculpture and introductory creative sessions to practical courses and creative arts packs delivered across Sunderland and the wider North East. The organisation’s projects often connect creativity with local heritage, wellbeing and community participation. Recent programming has explored the industrial and natural heritage of the River Wear, while its Witch! project examines the history of the North East witch trials through research, talks, hands-on workshops and public-facing creative work. Broadside Creatives is suited to creatives and small organisations seeking an affordable base, as well as residents and community groups looking for welcoming, accessible opportunities to learn, make connections and take part in meaningful cultural activity.
