About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
Makers’ Yard is an artist-run creative hub in Frome, bringing together independent studios, cultural activity and opportunities to work alongside other creative people. Its approach combines making, curating and community-building, creating a shared base for artists, designers and practitioners working across disciplines. Set within a re-established Victorian tannery warehouse, the venue includes artist studios, a community yard and a dedicated project space. The resident community spans visual art, film direction, ceramics, model-making, carpentry, jewellery design, motion graphics, set design, writing, architecture and photography, giving the building a genuinely cross-disciplinary character. The project space hosts and curates exhibitions, workshops, art classes, screenings, performances and other cultural projects. It is also available for events such as immersive dinners and product launches, making Makers’ Yard a distinctive setting for creative gatherings, public programmes and intimate presentations. For professionals who need a place to work, coworking workstations come with business-grade Wi-Fi and use of the communal kitchen and yard. The M.Y LOCAL Network extends that community beyond the building, connecting artists, designers, writers, musicians, filmmakers, agencies and arts organisations through advice, opportunities, talks, lunches and socials. Visit for an exhibition or event, join the creative network, or make use of the workspace as your practice develops.
