About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
Merchants’ Place is a non-profit community resource and learning centre in Cromer, bringing together practical workspace, meeting facilities and local support under one roof. Income from room hire and business services is reinvested into the centre’s community work, giving the venue a clear social purpose alongside its professional facilities. For small businesses, self-employed people and others needing an occasional or more permanent base, the centre offers hot desks, monthly coworking membership, fully serviced office space and a virtual business address with post and parcel handling. Users can make use of Wi-Fi, internet telephone access, kitchen facilities, professional printing, reception support and reduced meeting-room rates through the office service. Some hot-desk users can also work with a sea view. Meeting and conference provision includes larger meeting rooms, a conference suite, interview rooms and an IT suite. Facilities include computers, projectors, screens, interactive smartboards, flipcharts and Wi-Fi, with room layouts prepared before arrival. The rooms can support meetings, interviews, training, advice sessions and community activities, while the centre states that it is fully wheelchair accessible and can provide a hearing loop on request. Beyond workspace hire, Merchants’ Place is a welcoming hub for local groups, advice sessions, coffee mornings, social groups and support services. Its work includes the North Norfolk Volunteer Hub, the North Norfolk Family Network, learning and training opportunities, and Cromer Community Fridge and Larder. That broad mix makes the centre useful to local organisations, residents, families, volunteers, learners and community agencies alike.
