About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
The Centre for Movement is a creative venue in Hereford, housed in a historic former Magistrates’ Court. It brings together two large studios, a professional meeting room and a small office for hot-desking, with spaces suited to rehearsals, classes, workshops, meetings, filming and events. Studio 1 has original courtroom wood panelling, stained-glass windows and a glass domed ceiling, creating a distinctive setting for making work, classes and performances. Studio 2 offers a more modern feel, good acoustics, a sprung floor, full-height mirrors and curtains, making it well suited to smaller groups, workshops and creative practice. Both studios include professional sound equipment, while Studio 1 also has colour-changing ambient lighting and an induction loop. The hot-desking office accommodates up to two people and includes adjustable-height desks, desktop computers, printing and storage, with drop-in or longer-term use available. The meeting room provides movable tables, a whiteboard, projector, widescreen television, tablet, blackout facilities and an induction loop. Additional equipment available through the venue includes mats, ballet barres, stage blocks, chairs, filming and lighting equipment, projectors and digital display screens. Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen, changing facilities, lockers and laundry facilities help make the Centre comfortable for longer sessions, while box office and bar facilities can be arranged for suitable events. Accessibility is a clear priority, with wheelchair access, a platform lift, an accessible toilet, induction loops and welcome for guide, hearing and assistance dogs. Artists, freelancers, local businesses, small teams and community groups will find a practical, characterful home for creative and professional activity.
