The Old Brick Workshop is a creative co-working space near Wellington for artists, creative practitioners and small creative businesses. Its purpose is to bring independent practitioners together in a shared setting where they can exchange ideas, spend focused time on their work and develop a sense of community. The venue combines practical studio space with opportunities to engage with the wider public through exhibitions and events. The self-contained studios are clean white spaces with large windows and plenty of natural light. Ground-floor studios have disabled access and disabled lavatories, while additional studios are arranged upstairs. Resident artists have access to Wi-Fi, a large communal kitchen for relaxing and conversation, a communal area for informal meetings and a small library of art books. The on-site contemporary gallery presents a varied programme of modern, thought-provoking and diverse exhibitions. Shows can include painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, sculpture, ceramics and original prints, giving visitors the chance to discover work across a range of disciplines. The gallery is also available to hire for exhibitions and events, making the venue useful for visiting exhibitors and creative organisers as well as resident artists. With its rural industrial-estate setting on the edge of Wellington and links to Taunton by bus, The Old Brick Workshop suits local and rural artists, creative small businesses, art lovers and members of the community. It offers a practical base for focused creative work alongside a gallery setting that brings artists and audiences together.
