About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
The Old School House (TOSH) is a creative community space in Boscombe, Bournemouth, bringing together co-working, artist development and event hire within a Grade II listed Victorian building. Original timber-framed ceilings and grand fireplaces sit alongside a contemporary interior, giving the venue a relaxed, characterful feel for creative professionals, freelancers, artists, small businesses and community groups. Its position close to Boscombe seafront adds to the appeal, with independent cafés, shops and other local amenities nearby. For day-to-day work, TOSH offers hot desking and co-working pods, with focused work booths and private meeting space for one-to-one sessions and small group meetings. Artist studios provide dedicated, ground-level spaces with natural light, Wi-Fi, heating and power, supported by shared kitchen, lounge, garden and communal studio areas. Onsite parking, bike storage and dog-friendly arrangements add practical touches for people who spend regular time there. Several rooms are available for creative and community use. The Meeting Room suits quieter conversations and small meetings, while the Atrium and Assembly Hall accommodate workshops, talks, conferences, rehearsals, performances, photoshoots, yoga and other gatherings. The Orchard Garden offers an outdoor setting shaped by local volunteers, with fruit trees, planting, seating and space for nature-focused activities. TOSH’s non-profit purpose is woven through the experience. Open School Creative supports artists through workshops, artist talks, courses, funding guidance, networking and development opportunities, while the wider programme welcomes Boscombe locals, outsider artists, refugees, asylum seekers and other communities who may have faced barriers to participation. Regular exhibitions, craft sessions, movement, music, wellbeing and social activities create an inviting place to meet, make, learn and grow.
