About this space
A place to settle in and get things done.
The Sustainable Studio is an artist-led creative workspace in Cardiff, bringing together makers, emerging artists, designers and creative start-ups in a welcoming, collaborative setting. Its purpose goes beyond providing somewhere to work: the studio supports a connected community where members can share ideas, skills and opportunities while developing their creative practice and businesses. Members can apply for flexible studio arrangements, with a mix of private and semi-open spaces alongside a dedicated fashion hub. The set-up is suited to a wide range of disciplines, from fashion and textiles to painting, ceramics, film, music and design. Flexible membership lets creative people and small businesses adjust their workspace as their needs change, making the space particularly useful for early-stage ventures and independent practitioners. The working environment is practical and sociable. Lockable studios, natural light in most spaces, fibre-optic broadband, heaters and power points sit alongside shared kitchen and seating areas, ground-floor breakout space, indoor bike storage, and complimentary tea and coffee. A friendly, dog-welcoming atmosphere, regular member socials and community lunches make it easy to work independently while still feeling part of something larger. Sustainability and inclusion are central to the studio’s ethos, with a strong interest in upcycling, slow fashion and lower-impact creative practice, although members do not have to work directly in sustainability. The studio also supports professional development, collaborations, educational activity and community-focused creative opportunities. For events, workshops and exhibitions, the wider building includes a ground-floor venue offer managed through The Canopi, extending the space’s appeal to local communities, audiences and creative organisations.
